Beaches and bathing

Here you will find the most beautiful beaches imaginable. Most of the beaches are privately owned and managed. Traditionally, it is the fishermen who manage the beaches.
Beaches are an important source of income. Every morning the beach is cleaned and smoothed out. When the first guests arrive, the beach is in pristine condition. You pay 12 Euros per day. This includes access to a lounge chair and the protection of a life guard. Small children should be accompanied by adults, since there may be rip currents. Rip currents are indicated by red flags, and the life guard will be extra observant.

We usually drive to Marotta and spend the day at Luca Beach (Bagni Luca). We often lunch at Hotel Florence nearby. For an excellent seafood lunch, with the catch of the day, visit El Gatt just a few hundred metres further down along the boardwalk. There are also several public beaches in the area. They are free, but not nearly as nice.
